Puna lava flow breakout may take a different path than stalled l - Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL
They say the leading edge is approximately 0.5 miles upslope of the Highway 130 and Pahoa Village Road intersection, and about 580 yards or 0.3 miles upslope of the Pahoa Marketplace. Officials say some surface activity continues approximately 200 yards above or upslope of the flow front. Two breakouts along the north margin approximately 1-1.5 miles behind the flow front remain active and have advanced approximately 150 yards since Monday in a north direction. Hawai'i County Civil Defense Director Darryl Oliveira says current activity does not pose an immediate threat to area communities. Director Oliveira says the Railroad Avenue alternate access road will close to all traffic at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 7.
